UPDATE for March 10th and 11th.
Change in Parent Teacher conference days and potential virtual day.
Dear Columbus Families,
Next Wednesday, March 10th, many of the school staff will receive the second Covid vaccination. Side effects are more common with the second vaccine, so we may have several staff members not feeling well enough to come to work. If that happens, we want to be prepared to have a virtual learning day.
Our plan is to send home learning packets for PK-6th grade students on Wednesday. For junior high and high school students, assignments will be provided through the Canvas online platform. Teachers will have students download assignments on Wednesday, then if the announcement is made that Thursday will be for virtual learning, they will have assignments to complete on their computers. If we are able to have school, students would simply bring their packets or computers back to school on Thursday, and not have to complete them at home.
Another change we are making is to move our parent-teacher conferences from
Thursday to Wednesday, March 10th. This will happen whether or not school is virtual or in person on Thursday, March 11th.
Teachers will be on call during school time hours if we have a virtual learning day next Thursday, March 11th. You may email your child’s teacher with any questions. If you have a Thursday conference scheduled, you will be contacted by the school to reschedule for Wednesday, March 10th, if possible.
If you have any questions, please contact your building secretary or principal. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we try to be prepared should we need to have a virtual learning day next Thursday.
Sincerely,
Jeff Maeder, Superintendent
